One of the pillars of the national digital development strategy in Côte d'Ivoire (SNNCI 2021-2025) focuses on digital infrastructure. Significant investments are made each year to expand communication networks for the benefit of the population.

  • Mobile Network Coverage

The state of theoretical coverage of the country's localities by telecommunications networks, as reported by operators in 2023, is as follows:

Distribution by operator of the number of declared covered and uncovered localities as of 30/06/2023

Total number of localities: 8,518

Out of a total of 8,518 counted localities, approximately 7,961 (or 93.46%) are covered by at least one mobile network. In demographic terms, about 98.73% of the national population is covered by mobile phone networks due to extensive deployment of telecommunications infrastructure across the country.

Regarding data transmission services or mobile internet services (3G and/or 4G), the number of covered localities is 7,834, with an estimated population coverage rate of 91.12%.

  • Fiber Optic Network

To cover the different regions of the country with internet, operators have deployed a vast fiber optic network. Thus, Côte d'Ivoire has approximately 30,000 km of fiber optic cable by the end of 2023, of which more than 24,600 km is attributed to the private sector and nearly 5,400 km is due to the National RHND Network managed by the State.

This deployment effort strengthens the network, improves connectivity, and offers faster and more reliable internet to the population, even in remote areas.

  • International Bandwidth

There is also a sevenfold increase in Côte d'Ivoire's international bandwidth between 2019 and 2024, rising from 207.5 Gb/s to 1,480 Gb/s, marked by the transition from three undersea cables to five (SAT3, ACE, WACS, MAINONE, and the Morocco Telecom West Africa cable).

This capacity is expected to double by 2025, reaching 3,680 Gbps, thanks to the landing of the 6th undersea cable "2Africa," which will be operational starting January 2025.
