In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its target 4.2, which states that by 2030, countries must: "ensure that all girls and boys have access to development and early childhood care activities and to quality preschool education that prepares them for primary education," preschool education and Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in general are receiving increasing attention from the Ivorian government.
Preschool education is the educational stage provided by institutions for children aged 3 to 5 years. It includes three sections (small section, medium section, and large section). In Côte d'Ivoire, the ministries responsible for national education and social protection are committed to providing preschool services.
