Biography of  the Minister of Economy , Planning and Development 
Ms. Nialé KABA

After a master’s degree in Economics, obtained at the University of Abidjan-Cocody in 1989, Nialé Kaba continued her studies in Paris, where she successively obtained an engineering degree from the prestigious European Training Centre for Economists of Developing Countries (CESD) and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in International Economics and Development Economics from the University of Paris-1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. In 1993, she graduated from the International Monetary Fund Institute in Economic Policy Management.

She taught courses in macroeconomics, statistics, international economics at the National School of Statistics and Applied Economics (ENSEA) in Abidjan, before joining the Prime Minister's Office in 1991; its expertise is mainly recognized on fiscal and budgetary issues.

From 1996 to 2005, she was appointed Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, then Deputy Chief of Staff to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and finally Chief of Staff to the Minister of Crafts and Informal Sector Management. From 2005 to 2007, she was Managing Director of Côte d'Ivoire Tourism.

In 2011, Nialé Kaba joined the government as Minister of Housing Promotion, then she became the first Ivorian woman appointed Minister of Economy and Finance (2012-2016). On January 12 2016, she became Minister of Planning and Development. In this capacity, she is Governor of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). Since 2019, she has chaired the AfDB Board of Governors.

Since October 17 2023, she has been the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development.
