Agreements and Conventions
Cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and Benin is marked by several agreements, including:
Cooperation agreement signed on May 18, 2016, in the field of information and communication through their respective press agencies;
Military and technical agreement, signed on May 15, 2014, in Cotonou;
Agreement on air transport, signed on May 15, 2014, in Cotonou;
Cultural cooperation protocol signed on May 14, 2014, in Cotonou;
Twinning and cooperation agreement between the Municipality of Cotonou and the District of Abidjan, signed on November 28, 2012;
Framework Agreement on Commercial and Industrial Cooperation, signed on December 16, 1999, in Abidjan;
Agreement establishing a Joint Ivorian-Beninese Cooperation Commission, signed on February 27, 1992, in Abidjan (the latest session, the third of its kind, was held in Cotonou on May 15 and 16, 2014).
Furthermore, additional cooperation agreements were signed on April 17, 2014, by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the following areas:
The military and technical sector;
National solidarity;
Strengthening the family, promoting women's rights, and protecting children;
Microfinance;
Youth and women's employment;
Information and communication;
Implementation of the cultural convention program for the years 2014-2016;
Air transport;
Education, technical training, and vocational training;
Higher education and scientific research;
Establishment of a joint committee for monitoring and evaluating the decisions and recommendations of the Joint Cooperation Commission.
In addition to signing these agreements, the two Heads of State reaffirmed their commitment to joining efforts in addressing common threats, such as terrorism, which hinder economic growth and regional stability.
A. The main exported products are: fuels, minerals, mineral oils, bituminous substances, and mineral waxes.
B. The main imported products are: palm oils, premium gasoline, heavy fuel oil, fuel, and insecticides other than those packaged for retail sale.

The value of bilateral trade reached 47.9 billion CFA francs in 2023, compared to 66.9 billion CFA francs in 2022.
Over the period from 2019 to 2023, the average value of Ivorian exports is estimated at 43.02 billion CFA francs per year, compared to 6.20 billion CFA francs per year for imports.
During this period, the trade balance was in surplus for Côte d'Ivoire.
