Agreements and Conventions
Ivory Coast and Mali cooperate in several areas.
I.1. Economic and Financial Cooperation
Provision of an area in the Vridi port zone for the transit operations of goods from Mali for import and export by President Félix Houphouët-Boigny in 1950;
Creation of the Malian Warehouses in Ivory Coast (EMACI) by the Malian Ministry in charge of transportation for the management of Mali's transit space;
A Memorandum of Understanding for the compensation of debts and cross-claims signed on July 23, 1999;
A Commercial Agreement signed on July 23, 1999;
A Memorandum of Understanding for the interconnection of electrical networks, signed on October 12, 1993;
A Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance Treaty, signed on August 30, 1962.
I.2. Technical Cooperation
Five (05) judicial agreements signed in May 2018 during the visit of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta to Abidjan. These agreements focus on facilitating the reciprocal extradition of individuals subject to legal proceedings and allowing any citizen deprived of liberty abroad to be transferred to their home country to serve their sentence;
Tripartite Agreement between the Republic of Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Republic of Ivory Coast for the creation of a cooperation framework for the development of the border regions of the triangle, signed on January 17, 2012, in Sikasso;
Cooperation Agreement in the fight against child trafficking in West Africa signed on July 27, 2005;
Road transport cooperation Protocol signed on January 9, 2004;
Protocol regulating transhumance signed on July 23, 1999;
Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in geology, mining, and oil signed on July 23, 1999;
Veterinary cooperation Agreement signed on July 23, 1999;
Framework Agreement for the demarcation of the border signed on July 23, 1999;
Cultural Agreement signed on July 23, 1999;
Cooperation Agreement for vocational training signed on July 23, 1999;
Road transport cooperation Protocol signed on July 23, 1999;
Framework Agreement for cooperation in animal production and health signed on July 23, 1999;
Cooperation Agreement in the field of environment and forestry signed on July 23, 1999;
Agreement for the creation of the Ivorian-Malian Joint Commission, signed on February 19, 1977, in Abidjan;
General Cooperation Convention in the field of justice signed on November 11, 1965.
In order to strengthen socio-economic cooperation, the Ivorian and Malian authorities have agreed to implement the following integrative projects:
The construction of a dry port in the Ferkessédougou department to facilitate trade and reduce transit and transport costs;
The development and asphalting of the Boundiali-Tengrela-Mali border road, as well as the construction of the Man-Odienné-border road;
The construction of the Ouangolodougou-Niélé-Sikasso railway for the transport of minerals in particular.
Within the framework of cross-border cooperation initiated by UEMOA and ECOWAS, Ivory Coast and Mali benefit from pilot projects due to the intensity of activities at their common borders. Cross-border cooperation enables the development of economic, social, and cultural activities.
A. The main exported products are: petroleum products, construction materials, instant coffee, oil, chocolate, milk, soap, cosmetics, plant products, and chemicals.
B. The main imported products are: dairy products, essential oils and plant extracts, meat and offal, automatic machines, and petroleum products.

Over the period 2019-2023, the average value of Ivorian exports is estimated at 619.9 billion CFA francs per year, compared to 5.7 billion CFA francs per year for imports;
Over the period 2019-2023, the trade balance is positive for Côte d'Ivoire.
