Agreements and Conventions
Before Brexit, cooperation between Ireland and Côte d'Ivoire fell within the framework of political and economic cooperation between the European Union (EU) and ACP (African, Caribbean, and Pacific) countries. This cooperation was governed by the Cotonou Agreement, whose trade component evolved from a unilateral preferential regime to an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), establishing reciprocal free trade between the EU and ACP countries.
In this context, Côte d'Ivoire and the European Union signed an Interim Economic Partnership Agreement on November 26, 2008, pending progress in the negotiations of the Regional Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between West Africa and the EU. The interim EPA of Côte d'Ivoire was ratified by the National Assembly on August 12, 2016.
