Agreements and Conventions
Several cooperation agreements have been signed between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico in various fields. These include, among others:
1.1 Technical Cooperation
This is marked by the signing of several agreements between the two countries:
Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a consultation mechanism on matters of common interest on October 5, 1999, for a duration of 10 years. This memorandum was tacitly extended in 2009.
Signing of an Educational and Cultural Cooperation Agreement between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico on October 5, 1999, which entered into force on September 20, 2007.
Signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire and the city of Mexico on October 15, 2013.
Signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Association of Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (APEX-CI) and the Center for Exports and Trade of Mexico (COMCE) on October 15, 2013.
1.2 Technical Cooperation
A mission by a delegation of Mexican businessmen for investment prospects in various sectors, particularly agro-industry, construction, and health, specifically pharmaceutical production, on June 7, 2016.
Signing of a Protocol of Agreement with a duration of three (03) years, renewable, between the Center for Investment Promotion in Côte d'Ivoire (CEPICI) and its Mexican counterpart, PROMEXICO, on June 7, 2016. Through this agreement, both parties aim to support each other in business missions, share non-confidential information, and facilitate the development of their companies' capacities.
A mission to Côte d'Ivoire by a delegation of Mexican industrialists led by Mr. Francisco González Díaz, Director General of PROMEXICO, on July 7 and 8, 2016.
An Ivorian-Mexican economic forum organized by the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in Mexico in collaboration with the Secretariat of External Relations, CEPICI, the Senate, COPARMEX, COMCE, and PROMEXICO from September 20 to 22, 2016. The objective of this forum was to strengthen economic, commercial, and financial relations between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico, as well as to present the business environment and investment opportunities in Côte d'Ivoire.
Furthermore, the two countries share experiences in several sectors, including agro-industry, construction, renewable energy, transport, and the creation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
A. Main Exports from Côte d'Ivoire to Mexico: Cocoa and its derivatives, Wood, charcoal and wooden products, Rubber and rubber products.
B. Main Imports of Côte d'Ivoire from Mexico: Machines, electrical appliances and equipment and their parts; sound recording or reproducing devices, image and sound recording or reproducing devices for television, and parts and accessories of these devices.

The value of bilateral trade reached 94.6 billion FCFA in 2023, compared to 89.8 billion FCFA in 2022.
Over the period 2019-2023, the average value of Ivorian exports amounted to 51.54 billion FCFA per year, compared to 18.02 billion FCFA per year for imports.
The trade balance remains in surplus for Côte d'Ivoire during this period.
