Agreements and Conventions

 

On the diplomatic level, the relations between Côte d'Ivoire and Rwanda are marked by numerous visits from the high authorities of both countries and the signing of bilateral agreements.

Regarding visits and meetings, these include, among others:

  • The 48-hour official visit of the Rwandan President to Côte d'Ivoire on December 20, 2018, which resulted in the signing of four cooperation agreements in diplomatic fields. These include:

    • The Agreement on the exemption from the obligation of entry, transit, and stay visas for 90 days and the modernization of public administration.

    • The Memorandum of Understanding concerning the organization of the Joint Commission for Cooperation.

    • The Protocol Agreement on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Côte d'Ivoire and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda.

    • The Cooperation Protocol for the modernization of public administration.

  • The friendship and working visit of President Alassane OUATTARA to Kigali in April 2018.

  • The meeting between Presidents Alassane OUATTARA and Paul KAGAME on the sidelines of the G20 in June 2017 in Germany.

  • The working visit of James KABAREBE, Rwanda’s Minister of Defense, to Côte d'Ivoire from December 3 to 6, 2011.

  • The visit of Prime Minister Guillaume SORO to Kigali in November 2011 for the post-conflict peace conference.

On the economic and technical level, there are between the two countries:

  • Cooperation agreements in the fields of economy, air transport, and technical and scientific areas.

  • An agreement on air transport between the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, signed on November 27, 2015, in Abidjan and ratified by Law No. 049/2016 on November 28, 2016, allowing the Rwandan airline to operate flights to Abidjan since November 2016.
