Ivory Coast and Eritrea expressed their intention to establish diplomatic relations in May 2015.
However, the two countries do not yet have diplomatic representations.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, both Ivory Coast and Eritrea are members of the African Union but have not yet engaged in significant cooperation.

The trade between Côte d'Ivoire and Eritrea has been almost nonexistent between 2019 and 2023, rising from 0.34 million FCFA in 2019 to 1.1 million in 2023.
