Agreements and Conventions

Côte d'Ivoire and Uruguay cooperate through multilateral organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Uruguay is a member of the South American economic community, Mercosur, which brings together several countries in the region.

Trade relations between Mercosur and African countries, which were relatively insignificant until recently, have started to intensify in recent years. Initially focused mainly on Egypt and South Africa, the union is increasingly fostering trade relations with sub-Saharan African countries, notably Nigeria, Ghana, Libya, Senegal, and Angola.

In terms of agreements, it is worth noting that Africa and Mercosur have concluded two agreements: one with Egypt and another with SACU (Southern African Customs Union). Furthermore, in 2006, the International Tank Container Organization (ITCO) chaired the first Africa/South America Summit, held in Abuja, Nigeria.
