PRESENTATION

The Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro is located in the center of Côte d'Ivoire and is subdivided into two (02) Departments: Yamoussoukro (capital) and Attiégouakro. It covers an area of 2,132 km2, representing 0.7% of the national territory.

  • Yamoussoukro, the capital of the Autonomous District and the Political and Administrative Capital of Côte d'Ivoire, is a Main Economic Connector (a large city at an advanced stage of urbanization facilitating urbanization economies due to a diversified economic base that fosters innovation). It is a tourist and cultural hub focused on research and innovation. It is also a training center for Ivorian youth, in particular, and Francophone Africa, in general, due to the excellent quality of the educational infrastructure it hosts;
  • Eight (08) commercial banks and one (01) microfinance institution are established there;
  • Aeronautical infrastructure: 01 international airport;
  • There is one (01) industrial zone covering 750 ha, of which 250 ha are developed, with 24 active companies on an area of 84.6 ha (MCIPPME, 2022);
  • Mobile network coverage (ARTCI, July 2023): 98.59% of localities and 90.95% of the population are covered;
  • Health: The health infrastructure in the region covers most of the technical platforms.

  • Tourism:
    • Ecotourism: the Abokouamékro wildlife reserve, which features a wide variety of flora and fauna, the lake of caimans, and several lakes in the city of Yamoussoukro;
    • Business Tourism: the city of Yamoussoukro hosts a significant number of national and international events thanks to several internationally renowned facilities (Hotel Président, the Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY Foundation for Peace Research, the Presidential Residence, the hotel for parliamentarians);
    • Religious Tourism: pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, the Great Mosque of Peace.

INVEST IN THE REGION

As part of the implementation of the National Development Plan (PND) 2021-2025, the Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro is included in the area covered by the Agro-pole "Academic and Transformation Pole" (Agro-pole 4).

 

Investment opportunities exist in the following sectors:

  • Agriculture and agro-industry: the commissioning of the Agro-Industrial Pole in the Bélier region (2PAI-BELIER) promotes the establishment of a foundation for the transformation and modernization of agriculture through the restoration and development of productive capital, the modernization of working methods in agriculture and communication (ICT), and the promotion of the private sector and industrialization.
  • Urban sanitation: construction of a modern landfill with electricity production;
  • Tourism : rehabilitation of the Abokouamékro animal park;
  • Health : construction of a pediatric hospital;
  • Mining Resources :  The region has mining potential in gold;
  • Transport : construction of a bus station.
