Capital: Malabo

Main cities: Malabo, Bata

Official languages: Spanish, French (since 1997) and Portuguese (since 2011)

ASSESSMENT OF BILATERAL COOPERATION

Agreements and Conventions

Several memoranda of understanding on cooperation were signed on November 5, 2013. They are :

  • Agreement in the oil and energy sector;
  • Agreement in the mining and industry sector;
  • Agreement in the Agriculture sector;
  • January 24, 2010: air agreement between Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire;
  • June 9, 2005 Opening of a BNETD (National Bureau for Technical Studies and Development) representation in Equatorial Guinea.

 

As part of the high-level visits, H.E. Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of Cote d’Ivoire, visited Equatorial Guinea in February 2013.

TRADE

A. Main CI exports to Equatorial Guinea: processed coffee, iron, cast iron, steel and articles thereof, sugar confectionery, plastics.

B. Main imports of CI from Equatorial Guinea: mainly concern petroleum products (petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons).

  • The value of bilateral trade reached 6.87 billion of CFAF in 2022, compared to 1.14 billion of CFAF in 2021
  • Over the period 2018-2021, the average value of Ivorian exports amounted to 1.95 billion of CFAF/year against 2.63 billion of CFAF/year for imports.
  • Over the period 2019-2021, we have a trade surplus for Equatorial Guinea. In 2022, we have a surplus balance for Cote d’Ivoire.
