ASSESSMENT OF BILATERAL COOPERATION
Agreements and Conventions
With regard to the cooperation between Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria, and Conventions have been signed between these two (02) countries in the various fields mentioned below :
- Memorandum of Understanding signed in Algiers in November 2017, between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the Forum of Business Leaders of Cote d’Ivoire. It aims to promote partnership and trade between the two (02) countries through the holding of an Algerian-Ivorian business forum;
- Three (03) Agreements signed in May 2016, during the State visit of President Alassane OUATTARA to Algeria:
- Cooperation Agreement in the field of agriculture;
- Memorandum of Understanding in the field of technical education and vocational training;
- Political Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two (02) countries;
- Agreement establishing the Ivorian-Algerian Joint Cooperation Commission signed in Algiers in April 1981. The second session was held in 1996 in Abidjan;
- Ratification of the Agreement between the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire on Air Transport, signed at Algiers on February 17, 1967.
Five (5) draft Agreements are currently being negotiated. They are:
- Cultural Cooperation Agreement;
- Cooperation Agreement between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cote d’Ivoire;
- Agreement on the Management and Development of Water Resources;
- Agreement in the field of Forest and Wildlife Resources Management;
- Cooperation Agreement in the field of tourism.
In addition, the Algerian State makes an average of thirty scholarships available to the Ivorian Government each year in the fields of teaching and scientific research (Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, Computer Science, Economics and Management) for the benefit of Ivorian baccalaureate holders. Scholarships are also awarded to Ivorian students wishing to study in Algeria in the field of university and vocational training.
In addition to the higher education sector, Algeria grants the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire scholarships in the field of vocational and technical training.
TRADE
A. The main products exported are : green coffee, cocoa bean, processed cocoa and wood.
B. The main imported products are: petroleum products, cotton fabrics, iron, cast iron, steel and pharmaceutical products.

- The value of bilateral trade reached 145.3 billion of CFAF in 2022, compared to 584.2 billion of CFAF in 2021.
- Over the period 2018-2022, the average value of Ivorian exports is estimated at 345.9 billion of CFAF / year against 37.2 billion of CFAF / year for imports.
- Over the period 2018-2020, the trade balance is in surplus for Cote d’Ivoire and in deficit in 2021 and 2022.
