Agreements and Conventions

Several cooperation agreements have been signed between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico in various fields. These include, among others:

1.1 Technical Cooperation

This is marked by the signing of several agreements between the two (02) countries:

  • Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a consultation mechanism on topics of common interest on October 5, 1999, for a duration of 10 years. This Memorandum was tacitly renewed in 2009;
  • Signing of an Educational and Cultural Cooperation Agreement between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico on October 5, 1999, which came into effect on September 20, 2007;
  • Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico City on October 15, 2013;
  • Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Association of Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (APEX-CI) and the Center for Export and Trade of Mexico (COMCE) on October 15, 2013.

1.2 Technical Cooperation

  • A prospecting mission by a delegation of Mexican businesspeople aiming to invest in various sectors, notably agro-industry, construction, and health, specifically pharmaceutical production, on June 7, 2016;
  • Signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for a renewable period of three (03) years between the Investment Promotion Center of Côte d'Ivoire (CEPICI) and its Mexican counterpart, PROMEXICO, on June 7, 2016. Through this Memorandum of Agreement, the two (02) parties aim to support each other in business missions, share non-confidential information, and facilitate the development of their companies' capacities;
  • Mission to Côte d'Ivoire by a delegation of Mexican industrialists led by Mr. Francisco González Díaz, Director General of PROMEXICO, on July 7 and 8, 2016;
  • Ivorian-Mexican economic forum organized by the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in Mexico in collaboration with the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, CEPICI, the Senate, COPARMEX, COMCE, and PROMEXICO from September 20 to 22, 2016. The objective of this forum was to strengthen economic, commercial, and financial relations between Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico, and to present the business environment and investment opportunities in Côte d'Ivoire.

Additionally, the two (02) countries share experiences in several sectors, including agro-industry, construction, renewable energy, transportation, and the creation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

A. Main Exports from Côte d'Ivoire to Mexico: Cocoa and its derivatives, wood, charcoal and wooden products, rubber and rubber products.

B. Main Imports of Côte d'Ivoire from Mexico: Machines, electrical equipment and their parts; sound recording or reproduction devices, television recording or reproduction devices, and parts and accessories for these devices.
